Title: Assistant Project Manager

Open until: July 10

Start date: As soon as possible; no later than August 1

Type of position: Work from home

Hours: 20 hours per month; weekly amount varying (avg 5h/wk)

This is a contractor, work-from-home position averaging 5 hours per week (20 hours per month) for Seattle Historical Arts for Kids (www.historicalarts.org). The work is project-based and the schedule is flexible, but the pacing of tasks follows SHAK's seasonal programming. SHAK is a small yet ambitious performing arts educational program that operates in the nonprofit sphere through fiscal sponsorship, with projects ranging from school outreach visits to formal multi-generational theatrical performances. Working directly with SHAK director Shulamit Kleinerman through in-person meetings and email check-ins, the Assistant Project Manager will have the opportunity to create and develop the role in accordance with their interests and experience. Increasing the number of hours may become possible in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Publicize SHAK’s performances and enrollment opportunities (about 10 per year) by using relevant community event calendars and SHAK's bulk email list, and by directly contacting schools, music teachers, and the press.
  • Market SHAK’s programs to school teachers and administrators (once or twice per year), and schedule and coordinate classroom outreach visits by SHAK’s teaching artists (ongoing).
  • Assist with email fundraising campaigns (twice per year).
  • Assist with the production of print materials – writing copy, coordinating with graphic designer, etc (several times per year).
  • Assist with concert hosting on event days when available (several times per year).
  • Choose among a variety of elective additional project opportunities as time permits.

Requirements:

  • Be experienced in business or nonprofit administration. If experience is only in business, have a clear understanding of how the nonprofit sector works.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills and ability to communicate by phone.
  • Demonstrate excellent written communication. Be able to proofread for accuracy, to write or adapt professional copy in accordance with templates or examples, and to follow house style guidelines.
  • Have experience with programs such as Word, Google Docs, Excel, and bulk email. Be able to use your own, up-to-date computer.
  • Be timely in communication and completion of tasks. Be able to manage deadlines effectively and organize information independent of workplace supervision.
  • Have some availability each week, except for occasional pre-scheduled absences by agreement.
  • Pass background check if working directly with our youth participants.
