A Medieval Arts Pop-Up

Magnuson Park: Picnic Shelter #2

Enjoy medieval music & calligraphy In a festive open-air presentation... Our first live event since January 2020!

Longtime SHAK student and guest singers share a casual performance of catchy tunes from the 13th & 14th centuries — plus live demonstration of calligraphy of the period! Students in period costume are led by SHAK director Shulamit Kleinerman on vielle (medieval fiddle), with instrumental selections by guest artists Ruthie Dornfeld (vielle), and Bill McJohn (harp), and SHAK alumnus Sam Groom (vielle). Bring a picnic to hang out and listen or just stroll by for a few tunes.

This is a chance for our returning friends to greet one another again — and for local newcomers who’ve joined SHAK online in the past year to meet some of us in real life for the first time!
