Seattle Public Library-- Central Library, 1000 4th Ave, Seattle WA
Shakespeare's First Folio is coming to Seattle, and the musicians of the Early Music Youth Academy present a lunchtime concert of instrumental music from the Bard's own time. Fine apprentice instrumentalists of the Early Music Youth Academy, age 11-14, present music from Elizabethan England and Renaissance Italy in this all-ages program. Meet the viola da gamba, lute, harp, recorder, and early violin; discover the tunes that all of Europe sang around 1600; and hear some of the actual songs from Shakespeare's plays. Costumed dancers demonstrate the elegant manners of the Renaissance.
Free. One hour. Seattle Central Library, 3rd floor (5th Ave entrance level).
